Keely’s Cute Kimono

Evey time I want to write the name of her shop, I also want to spell “Cute” with a ‘K’ and ahahahaha…. that’s not a good idea. Anyway, this post is about Dolly (and human) seamstress KeelyVH. Like me, she’s an adult with a life beyond dolls, so she mostly works on small scale, but she has a little shop on Etsy, and if you ask her nicely and catch her at a good time, will take commissions.

Keely's even cuter Kimono

If it hasn’t become apparent by now, I’m an obsessive perfectionist. I’m not very hard on anyone other than myself, but if something’s not absolutely perfect, it drives me crazy. I’ve bought or traded handmade doll clothes before and ripped out and resewn seams and hems because they weren’t clean enough (I never told the people who made them that I did), so understand what I mean in all my OCD glory that KeelyVH is not only the only person I’ve ever bought clothes from more than once, I’ve even commissioned her to do outfits for my customs. Her clothes are really THAT nice.

Keely's Cute Kimono

Wa-Lolita is a hybridized style of eastern lolita and traditional Japanese kimono, and most of what Keely keeps in her shop. I don’t even like the style, yet I ended up with 2 dresses anyway, they were so darn cute. One was picked up at PUDDLE, and the other was commissioned. I only have pullips, but Keely’s adapted her pattern to many different sized dolls.

Princessa & Principessa

Here’s my other prize: the Princessa dresses. I knew I’d never get an exact match for Principessa’s dress, so it seemed the reasonable thing to do would be to make a matching set of stock-inspired outfits for both Princessa and Principessa (whose stock could do with improving anyway). I also knew that if I had to sew it myself, I would probably throw the sewing machine out my window before the project was done, so I contacted KeelyVH, who did a spectacular job and saved my sanity!

I’m done gushing now :)

*laughs* I am so happy to have company in OCD!! Of course, I would never force that on anyone on purpose – but it sure is nice to know I’m not alone!! ;)

Your work NEVER ceases to amaze me, Requiem. Your work is like the purest form of perfectionist art. I can’t wait to work on another custom with you! :D
