Pullip news: New book, collabs
The Groove blog has been having a lot of text-only posts lately, so I did some translating:
Announced 5/20: New pullip book to be released “Summer 2003-Autumn 2010, Pullip Complete Style” (tentative title) scheduled for release in July 2010 (also tentative). Price: 3,800 yen, a little over $40, plus, of course, shipping.
Announced 5/20: (busy day, huh?) New collaborations announced with Seikima II, which is a band. Looks like there will be 5 dolls. If you google image the band, they look like a Japanese version of KISS. They will be limited, and available for preorder during a period from August to December of this year, with a price set at 22,000 yen each (Roughly $230). Looks like there will also be a custom contest held to make your own customs of the band for their 25th anniversary.
Now that the official news is out, time to give my thoughts:
WHAT THE HELL?! Ok, that was my original thought. I’m sure there’s some more coherent ones in there… oh yes. I’m sure the band dolls must be really cool and have lots of accessories and stuff. Oh wait. ” Accessories are worn by each member will not be reproduced.” Scratch that. It’s just the band association jacking up the price. They really ARE the Japanese KISS.
…next topic then. The book. Ehm… All I can say is that for $40, it better be a lot better than the last one. The patterns were horrible, but then there’s no mention of patterns in this book. It will include a full chronology of all released pullips, dals, namu, taeyangs, minis, and other Mango Parks dolls like the J-doll and that weirdass dog creature. That’s all it really says it will include. Also “Other stuff we’re not mentioning yet” which I hope must be really fucking awesome top-secret stuff?
