Yuzuki Dollfie
Pullip faces aren’t really anime styled. They’re somewhere between anime style and ‘realistic’ that I like as a happy medium. Enough stylizing to be able to do unusual things like 2-tone eyelashes and get away with it, realistic enough to keep things interesting. This time around, I did an anime-styled dollfie faceup of Yuzuki from Chobits for Hina Ichigo
Very few anime faces have complex makeup. You might get a bit of blush to the cheeks or lips but that’s more of an exception to the rule. Yuzuki still needed to be ‘upgraded’ from animator/illustrator style, so I consulted the already released Dollfie counterpart, Chii. Chii got a bit of light blushing on the cheeks and around the eyes, and a bit of light lipgloss, so so did Yuzuki.
Working on this dollfie also confirmed what I suspected while working on a mini bjd face previously, which is that resin (a kind of plastic) takes pastels/paints a bit better than pullip plastic. The mimi face was stripped of makeup and primed the same way a pullip face is, and they’re about the same size, so it was a more equal comparison this time around.
